Children's Privacy & Online Safety Notice

Children’s Privacy & Online Safety Notice

Last Updated: July 2026

1. Welcome to The Adventures of Butler World

Welcome to The Adventures of Butler World — a place of friendship, kindness, courage, imagination and adventure.

The safety, wellbeing and privacy of children are extremely important to us.

This Children’s Privacy & Online Safety Notice explains how Artemus Ltd approaches children’s privacy and online safety across websites, digital content and online experiences connected with:

  • The Adventures of Butler
  • Adventure Woods
  • The Friendship Tree
  • The Howl Gang
  • All current and future characters
  • All stories, books and adventures
  • All associated fictional locations and creative projects

Together, these are referred to as “The Adventures of Butler World.”

2. Who We Are

The Adventures of Butler World is managed by Artemus Ltd.

Artemus Ltd is committed to creating a positive, welcoming and age-appropriate environment for children and families.

We aim to place the interests, privacy and wellbeing of children at the heart of our online experiences.

3. Our Promise to Children and Families

We want children and families to enjoy exploring Adventure Woods safely.

We aim to:

  • Protect children’s personal information
  • Collect as little personal information from children as reasonably possible
  • Create age-appropriate online experiences
  • Use clear and understandable language
  • Encourage the involvement of parents and guardians
  • Avoid unnecessary tracking of children
  • Consider children’s best interests when developing digital experiences
  • Respond appropriately to privacy or online safety concerns

Just as The Friendship Tree represents kindness, friendship and looking out for others, these values guide our approach to children’s privacy and online safety.

4. Children and Personal Information

We do not knowingly seek to collect unnecessary personal information directly from children.

Children should never send us private information without speaking to a parent, guardian or responsible adult.

Private information may include:

  • A home address
  • A personal telephone number
  • A school name or address
  • Passwords
  • Private account information
  • Exact location information
  • Photographs containing private or identifying information

If a child is unsure whether information is safe to share, they should ask a trusted adult first.

5. Parents and Guardians

We encourage parents and guardians to be involved when children explore The Adventures of Butler World online.

Where appropriate, parents or guardians should help children:

  • Use our website
  • Enter competitions
  • Submit activities or creative work
  • Contact us
  • Sign up for updates
  • Use interactive online features

Where parental or guardian consent is legally required, we will take appropriate steps to request it.

6. Children Under 13

We take additional care when personal information may relate to a child under the age of 13.

Where we rely on consent to process personal information in connection with an online service offered directly to a child under 13, appropriate parental or guardian consent may be required.

We may take reasonable steps to confirm that consent has been provided by a person with parental responsibility.

7. Competitions and Activities

The Adventures of Butler World may occasionally offer:

  • Drawing activities
  • Colouring activities
  • Story competitions
  • Character activities
  • Friendship challenges
  • Adventure Woods activities
  • Giveaways
  • Creative competitions

Where an activity involves children, we will aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to manage that activity.

Additional competition or activity terms may apply.

Where appropriate, a parent or guardian may be required to submit an entry on behalf of a child.

8. Children’s Artwork and Creative Submissions

We love seeing creativity inspired by Adventure Woods.

If we invite children to submit drawings, stories or other creative work, we may ask for the involvement or permission of a parent or guardian.

We will not intentionally publish a child’s private contact information alongside their creative work.

Where we wish to publicly feature a child’s name, photograph, artwork or other identifying information, we will consider whether appropriate permission is required.

We may choose to use a child’s first name, age or general region where appropriate and where suitable permission has been obtained.

9. Photographs and Videos

We will take care when using photographs or videos involving children.

Where appropriate, permission will be obtained from a parent, guardian or other authorised person before identifiable images of children are used in our official marketing or digital content.

We will consider the privacy, dignity and wellbeing of children when selecting and publishing images.

We will not intentionally publish private information such as a child’s home address or personal contact details alongside their photograph.

10. Online Safety

We want our digital spaces to reflect the positive values of The Adventures of Butler World.

Where interactive features are available, users must not submit content that is:

  • Bullying or threatening
  • Abusive
  • Discriminatory
  • Sexually inappropriate
  • Violent or deliberately disturbing
  • Intended to frighten or exploit children
  • Designed to encourage dangerous behaviour
  • Intended to obtain private information from a child
  • Unlawful

We may remove, restrict or report content or activity where we reasonably believe there is a safety concern or legal requirement to do so.

11. Bullying and Unkind Behaviour

Adventure Woods is a world built around friendship.

Bullying, intimidation and deliberately unkind behaviour are not welcome within official The Adventures of Butler online spaces.

Where interactive features are provided, we may remove content or restrict users who behave inappropriately.

Serious concerns may be reported to an appropriate authority where required or permitted by law.

12. Contact from Adults to Children

The safety of children is extremely important to us.

Adults must not use official The Adventures of Butler online spaces to:

  • Seek private contact with a child
  • Request personal information from a child
  • Ask a child to keep online conversations secret
  • Encourage a child to move to a private communication platform
  • Send inappropriate messages or content
  • Attempt to exploit, manipulate or groom a child

Any activity that raises a serious child safety concern may be restricted, preserved or reported where appropriate and lawful.

13. Social Media

The Adventures of Butler World may operate official social media accounts.

Social media platforms are operated by third-party organisations and have their own age requirements, privacy policies and safety rules.

Children should only use social media platforms where they meet the platform’s age requirements and should have appropriate guidance from a parent or guardian.

We encourage parents and guardians to supervise children’s online activities where appropriate.

14. Advertising and Marketing to Children

We aim to communicate responsibly with children and families.

We do not intend to pressure children into making purchases.

Marketing connected with The Adventures of Butler World should be appropriate to the intended audience and clearly presented.

Where products, books or merchandise are promoted, children should speak to a parent or guardian before making or requesting a purchase.

15. Cookies and Tracking

Our websites may use cookies and similar technologies.

We aim to limit unnecessary collection and use of children’s personal information.

Where consent is required for non-essential cookies, appropriate consent choices will be provided.

Please read our Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy for further information.

16. Sharing Children’s Personal Information

We do not sell children’s personal information.

We will only share children’s personal information where there is an appropriate reason to do so.

This may include sharing limited information with trusted service providers who help operate our website or services.

We may also share information where reasonably necessary to protect a child or another person, investigate a serious safety concern or comply with a legal obligation.

17. Keeping Information Safe

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information.

We aim to limit access to children’s personal information to people and service providers who reasonably need access for an authorised purpose.

No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we take children’s privacy and information security seriously.

18. If a Child Sends Us Personal Information

If we become aware that a child has provided personal information in circumstances where appropriate consent or involvement was required, we will review the information.

Where appropriate, we may:

  • Delete the information
  • Contact a parent or guardian
  • Restrict further processing
  • Take appropriate safeguarding action

Parents and guardians can contact us if they believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission.

19. Children’s Privacy Rights

Children have data protection rights.

Depending on the circumstances, these may include rights relating to:

  • Accessing personal information
  • Correcting inaccurate information
  • Deleting information
  • Restricting how information is used
  • Objecting to certain uses of information
  • Withdrawing consent

A child may be able to exercise their own data protection rights where they are able to understand those rights.

A parent or guardian may also be able to assist a child with a privacy request where appropriate.

20. Our Characters and Online Safety

Butler reminds us to be curious and kind.

The Friendship Tree reminds us that friendship grows when we look after one another.

Adventure Woods is a place where everyone should feel welcome.

The Howl Gang and every character within The Adventures of Butler World form part of stories designed to encourage imagination, friendship, courage and adventure.

These values guide how we want our official online spaces to feel.
